Medications of Gestational Diabetes

Most women can treat your gestational diabetes by changing your diet and starting a more frequent exercise. If these changes can not keep your blood sugar at safe levels, you may need insulin. You will also need to introduce myself insulin if your doctor thinks the baby is too big.

What To Think About

Insulin - this is the only medication allowed by the Office for the Control Food and Drug Administration as a treatment for gestational diabetes. Insulin is used only if you can not control your blood sugar level, observing the correct diet and engaging in regular physical exercise.

The amount of insulin depends on how much you weigh and how close you are to the date of expected birth. Some women need more insulin when approaching date of birth because the placenta begins to produce more and more hormones, which complicate the work of insulin. In rare cases, a woman with gestational diabetes should remain in hospital for a short time in order to bring her blood sugar to safe levels.

There are pills, called glyburide, and is used to treat type 2 diabetes, but some doctors are using them for the treatment of gestational diabetes. Currently there is no available information that would prove the safety and efficacy of glyburide, the American Diabetes Association continues to recommend that only insulin for the treatment of women with gestational diabetes.

Gestational Diabetes - Other Treatment

All pregnant women should take prenatal vitamins. If you wish to receive other types of insulin, discuss this with your doctor. Do not take a single vitamin in larger quantities than is contained in the approved prenatal vitamins.

  1. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
